It is a single place for their teaching material: students sign in, find what their course needs, and read it on whatever device they have. Authentication matters because the collection is licensed to the institute rather than public.
The brief was narrow and the timeline was short — the institute needed it running for an intake, not eventually. That shaped the scope more than anything else: it does the one job properly rather than a dozen partially.
